Flight Training
A Discovery Flight is a flight of approximately one hour, intended to familiarize you with the airplane and with the basics of flying. During a Discovery Flight, you will sit in the left seat. Under the instructor’s guidance you will fly the aircraft.

An individual must be at least 16 years of age to operate an aircraft solo, and 17 years of age to obtain a Private Pilot License. There is no age requirement on beginning flight lessons with a Certified Flight Instructor
Before you can fly solo / alone you need to obtain a Student Pilot Certificate. It is not required for taking flight lessons with a Certified Flight Instructor. Application for Student Pilot Certificate is free of charge and can be done directly via Integrated Airman Certification and Rating Application (IACRA) website.
Medical Certificate is required for you to fly an airplane by yourself / solo. You need a medical certificate before flying solo in an airplane.
To obtain your Medical Certificate, you will need to pass a physical medical exam administered by a doctor who is an FAA-authorized aviation medical examiner.

FAA requires a minimum of 40 hours flying time, including 10 hours solo flying time. The amount of time it would take for you to get your PPL will largely depend on you. Your time, budget, and level of aspiration are the main determinants.
Having a PPL allows the pilot to fly a small aircraft solo and with passengers in visual flight conditions. PPL does not allow for flying passengers or cargo.
